About Me:
So I grew up in Boston...I started modeling when I was 18 and i decided that Boston wasn't really the place to get an agency..I did a lot of freelance work and actually did pretty well for myself. I networked enough to where I could get any job stemm...
click for moreed out of New England that I wanted pretty much. I started modeling for Johnny Cupcakes, and moved on to Betsey Johnson and Arden B (back in the day when it was first coming out) etc etc.. Then I started working with this insane music managing company that tried to make a girl group and sign us to a major record label...that was awkward..me? in a girl group? when we showcased I came right out and said ""yea..im not really into this music so much..I listen to like..Thrice..and Underoath..I wanna be in a real band..."" and of course...the label picked me..and only me..to sign with them for their girl group. I got swooped kinda by Mike Capputo (the guy that founded BLG) and we recorded a few songs...but again, he wanted me to be in a girl group..so i said no thanks and started looking for a band. I was in a hardcore band for like..2 weeks..but the guys kinda were lazy so I tried a jam band...also not working fast enough...so of course, I posed an ad online...and I posted it in Las Vegas BY ACCIDENT and met a pop band. I wrote songs over the internet to their instrumental stuff and ended up coming up with some really cool stuff. They suggested I come and try out for a week and see how I like it. I jumped on a plane a few weeks later not knowing who they were or anything and ended up doing a music video, a 3 song demo, and a photoshoot with them that week. Everything was perfect! We were all best friends instantly. I went home and one of them gave me this rundown on the way it would go if I lived there. ""You won't have to get a job..because there's nothing you'll have to pay for..you can live with us for free, eat fo r free and we'll take care of the band expenses...I mean..we'll be on the road and signed by the end of the year anyway so it's not a big deal. AND We'll drive you around when you need to get somewhere. You don't even need to give up your modeling career. We'll drive you to LA if you need to go."" That all sounded awesome! That same day we got contacted about how awesome our sound was (even though our recordings weren't all that awesome AND I wrote the 3 songs in 3 days. INCLUDING on the plane on the way there) by Deep Rock Drive and they wanted us to do a performance on their live broadband thing..so I packed ALL my stuff, and left my career, family, and all my friends behind that same week to go join the band. Things were great at first, but slowly...everyone got more and more lazy...and really sketchy if I'd hang out with one band member without the rest of them there. ""DUDE! YOU LIKE HER! NO, YOU LIKE HER! NO YOU LIKE HER!"" Yea..it ended up being pinpointed on me and my drummer. Great. That lasted for a long time and the more we got interrogated, the more we felt uncomfortable around anyone but each other...until it got SO bad that we were like screw it. Lets just pull a 180 and not even talk to each other for a while. That didn't work because when the band started getting lazy about writing, and just playing videogames all day instead of practicing... The only one that agreed with me and wanted to work as hard as me was my guitarrist who I thoug ht was still my real best friend. I totally trusted him. He told me that the guys were replaceable and I wasn't because I was the one with the talent and the drive and the sparkle. He said I knew what I was doing so he'd stick with me and told me not to worry about them and what happens with them cause there is always get someone better available. And they started slacking at their instruments anyway...I started writing with my guitarrist. That's when the rest of the guys started feeling left out..again.. Like..I was an instrument from a music store..not allowed to come out of the case until they were ready to practice..6 months later when we were still not doing anything but mini tours around the surrounding states..and we didn't have recordings, our merch was running thin, I tried jumpstarting stuff by yelling at them that everyone was getting lazy and way more interested in videogames and going out to bars and going shopping then getting stuff accomplished...they didn't like that too much...they told me they didn't want to spend their money unless I was going to pay for it too. (Mind you, I spent ALL of my savings at this point because I wasn't expecting to be there that long and I was completely broke.) So I asked them how it was fair if they all had jobs, and cars to get to their jobs and I dont...and I have to pay for stuff when I dont have any money..or anything else but practice for that matter.. because I left my life behind to start this band..they didn 't care. So I was like "fine. These guys obviously are not my best friends...they're not looking out for me so I'll do my own thing for a while and come back" so I found Paris' show. I thought that was really cute..and thought since my best friends are screwing me over..I'll get a new one. I told the guys I got cast for the show and they told me "nope. you cant do it. If you want to be in this band you have to walk to a grocery store near by your house, and make money to pay for the band stuff or you cant be in the band anymore. we don't want you to be on the show. and we dont want you modeling anymore if you wanna be in the band." and I just..didn't know what to say..I was like "Fine. then you guys quit college, and your side office jobs. you work at the grocery store with me" and they said no. We decided we'd see what happens when I got back from the show. Yea...while I was gone, my bassist packed ALL of my stuff without notifying me and left it all in the front hallway on the way out the door. I found out through one of our other friends. Jealousy is a pretty strong feeling I guess...So when I got back from the show, I found out they asked ALL of my girlfriends to sing my songs and front the band. All of them said ""ew. no im not doing that to britt"" except one. My friend's girlfriend. Nice girl huh? So I asked for a copy of the songs that I wrote and recorded and they had. My guitarrist who I thought was my best friend told20me ""No. We're still a band, and you're not in it. You can go listen to the songs on the myspace like everybody else."" So that was pretty much it for them..Someone must have had a talk with them because they all started trying to write me formal letters to justify their actions..because they never apologize to me. Ever..haha well, It's ok that I had to go through that...they're just a bunch of rich spoiled mamas boys that aren't used to having to work for anything cause it's all handed to them. And they can't see that. - then the band broke up all together and my guitarist tried to get ALL new members to keep the band going. with MY recordings, MY songs, MY band name that I made up..and MY merch. He just changed the pictures with me and the other guys to a different set of people. We already played our farewell show and everything...and he played more shows as us with that random girl singing and the random kids! After I asked him to take down my songs and lay low for a while and just make a new band and a new bandspace..and he BLOCKED me from the myspace and played the shows anyway. So I posed a bulletin to the fans about what was goin on and not to hate or stop supporting him but i was sad about it and it was unfair. he then texted me threatning my life and telling me i was "fucking with the wrong kid" delusional. what is wrong with people??
I guess I'll just have to try again ;)
